Create Playlist.

Create Playlist is a newsletter where I, a late 90s/early 2000s kid with cringe taste in music, will be stalking my friends’ Spotify playlists to discover new music and what songs can mean to people.

Why?

I’ve always loved music, but discovery has never been something I’ve put all that much time into - I’ve always been more of a smooth fm than triple j fan, singing the classics at karaoke.

Now, as a nosy person enabled by Spotify’s Friend Activity feature, I find myself looking through my friends’ sometimes funny and/or absurdly-named playlists to find new music.

In turn, I feel like I’ve been getting more of an insight into them as people.

So Create Playlist was born, a newsletter where I ask people about these playlists: from what went into the name to the mood they need to be in to listen to it, how it makes them feel, and their favourite songs.
